= 406 + 520 + 504 + 506 + 462 + 612
= 3010
Total failed students from all six states in the year 2016
= 672 × 5/8 +952 × 8/17 + 637 × 3/7 + 988 × 12/19 + 715 × 5/13 + 924 × 13/21
= 420 + 448 + 273 + 624 + 275 + 572
= 2612
Required difference = 3010 – 2612 = 398
